Description

Transform simple cake into dazzling (Confetti Dipped Orbs with Strawberry Shell) using this easy cake pop recipe. These bite-sized treats are perfect for family gatherings or dessert enthusiasts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (450g) Baked Cake, from a 9×13 inch pan, cooled, crumbled
  • 0.5 cup (120g) Cream Cheese Frosting, store-bought or homemade
  • 3040 count Lollipop Sticks
  • 12 oz (340g) Strawberry Candy Melts
  • 0.25 cup (40g) Confetti Sprinkles
  • 1 tsp (5ml) Shortening or Coconut Oil, optional

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cake Base: Crumble cooled cake until fine. Mix with frosting until dough-like. Roll 30-40 1-inch balls smoothly. Chill for 30-60 minutes until very firm and solid.
  2. Melt Strawberry Coating: Gently melt strawberry candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring at 30-second intervals until smooth and like warm paint. If too thick, stir in 0.5-1 tsp shortening or coconut oil.
  3. Dip And Decorate: Dip a lollipop stick tip into melted candy, then insert halfway into a firm cake ball. Dip the pop into the coating, tapping gently to remove excess for an even shell.
  4. Add Confetti: While the strawberry shell is still wet, liberally sprinkle confetti. Place upright in a tall glass to set.
  5. Chill To Set: Return decorated cake pops to the fridge. Chill for 15-20 minutes until the coating feels firm to the touch, ready for serving.

Notes

Adapt the recipe by using gluten-free or dairy-free ingredients. Experiment with different cake and candy melt flavors, or add vanilla extract, salt, or lemon zest for boosted flavor. For a shortcut, use boxed cake mix and store-bought frosting. To troubleshoot, ensure candy melts are not too hot and cake balls are firm to prevent cracking or falling. Add shortening or fresh candy melts for lumpy coating.
