Description

This Bisquick coffee cake with Cinnamon Streusel Crown and Maple Drip is a tender, comforting sweet treat perfect for a quick breakfast or a weekend brunch. It’s an easy, family-friendly recipe that transforms simple ingredients into a bakery-worthy delight.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Bisquick mix
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar, (sweetness for the cake batter)
  • 0.5 cup milk, (moisture for a tender crumb)
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 cup butter, melted
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 to 2 tbsp milk, (for maple drip)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prep Pan: Preheat your oven to 375(deg)F (190(deg)C). Lightly grease and flour an 8×8 or 9×9 inch baking pan to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Cake Batter: In a medium bowl, combine 2 cups Bisquick, 0.5 cup granulated sugar, 0.5 cup milk, and 1 large egg. Mix gently until just combined, avoiding overmixing. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  3. Prepare Cinnamon Streusel: In a separate small bowl, combine 0.5 cup melted butter, 0.5 cup brown sugar, 0.25 cup all-purpose flour, and 1 tbsp ground cinnamon. Stir with a fork until the mixture forms distinct, crumbly pieces.
  4. Assemble and Bake: Sprinkle the cinnamon streusel evenly over the cake batter. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean and the edges are golden brown.
  5. Make Maple Drip: While the cake cools slightly, whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tbsp maple syrup, and 1 to 2 tbsp milk in a small bowl until completely smooth and glossy. Adjust milk for desired drizzling consistency.
  6. Drizzle and Serve: Drizzle the maple drip generously over the warm coffee cake. Let it set for a few minutes until slightly firm before slicing and serving.

Notes

To avoid a dry cake, pull it from the oven when a skewer still has a few moist crumbs clinging. For dietary needs, use whole-wheat Bisquick for fiber, almond or oat milk and plant-based butter for dairy-free, sugar substitutes and sugar-free syrup for lower-sugar, or gluten-free Bisquick or flour blend for gluten-free.
