Description

This recipe provides a simple guide to making homemade almond milk with a beautiful strawberry rose tint. It offers a quick, nutritious, and delicious alternative to store-bought options, perfect for a refreshing pick-me-up or family-friendly snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup raw almonds
  • 4 cups filtered water
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 0.5 to 1 tsp food-grade rose water
  • 2 to 4 dates or 1 to 2 Tbsp maple syrup or honey, optional sweetener
  • 0.125 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Soak Almonds: Place 1 cup of raw almonds in a bowl, covering them generously with fresh filtered water, and allow to soak until softened (4-8 hours or overnight).
  2. Rinse And Drain: Discard the soaking water completely and rinse the almonds thoroughly under cool running water for 1 minute.
  3. Blend Almonds: Transfer the rinsed almonds to a high-speed blender, adding 4 cups of fresh filtered water. Blend on high for 3-5 minutes until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
  4. Strain Almond Milk: Place a nut milk bag or fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth over a large bowl. Carefully pour the blended almond mixture into the bag/sieve and squeeze out all the liquid, separating the creamy almond milk from the pulp.
  5. Add Flavoring: Return the strained almond milk to the clean blender. Add 1 cup of fresh or frozen strawberries, 0.5 to 1 teaspoon of food-grade rose water, and your chosen sweetener if using. Blend until the mixture is beautifully smooth and vibrant.
  6. Chill And Serve: Pour the finished almond milk into airtight bottles or jars. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour until thoroughly cold before serving.

Notes

For a quicker option, use pre-soaked almonds or start with store-bought unsweetened almond milk as a base. Adjust rose water to your preference, starting with less and adding more for a stronger floral note. The recipe also suggests varying sweeteners or using sugar alternatives for dietary preferences.
