cajun salmon recipe
- Total Time: 20 minutes
- Yield: 4 servings 1x
- Diet: General
Description
This easy Cajun salmon recipe transforms simple ingredients into a vibrant, healthy dish with crispy edges and a tender, flaky center, perfect for quick weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 4 (6 oz) salmon fillets, skin-on or off
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2–3 tbsp Cajun seasoning, adjust to taste
- 1 large lemon
Instructions
- Prep the Salmon: Gently pat salmon fillets thoroughly dry with paper towels. Drizzle with a little olive oil, then generously rub the Cajun seasoning all over each fillet, ensuring even coverage and a flavorful crust.
- Heat the Pan: Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a large non-stick or well-seasoned cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
- Sear the Salmon: Carefully place salmon skin-side down (if applicable) into the hot pan. Cook for 3-5 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden brown on the bottom. Flip gently and cook for another 3-5 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145(degrees)F (63(degrees)C).
- Rest and Serve: Transfer the cooked salmon to a plate, squeeze fresh lemon juice over each fillet, and let it rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
Notes
For best results, pat salmon thoroughly dry before seasoning to ensure crispy skin. Do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary to maintain pan temperature and achieve a good sear. Avoid overcooking to keep salmon moist and tender; it is done when it flakes easily with a fork (145(degrees)F internal temperature). Adjust Cajun seasoning to your preferred level of heat. Using fresh, wild-caught salmon and quality olive oil can elevate the dish.
