Ingredients
- 5 g (1 teaspoon) whole cumin seeds, for toasting
- 10 g (2 teaspoons) ground cumin
- 15 g (1 tablespoon) smoked paprika
- 10 g (2 teaspoons) chili powder
- 10 g (2 teaspoons) ground sumac
- 5 g (1 teaspoon) dried mint
- 5 g (1 teaspoon) garlic powder
- 5 g (1 teaspoon) onion powder
- 5 g (1 teaspoon) dried oregano
- 8 g (1.5 teaspoons) fine sea salt
- 2 g (0.5 teaspoon) freshly ground black pepper
- 1 g (0.25 teaspoon) cayenne pepper, optional
Instructions
- Toast Whole Cumin Seeds: In a small, dry skillet, toast the whole cumin seeds over medium-low heat for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and slightly darkened. Remove and let cool on a small plate.

- Whisk to Blend: Using a fork or small whisk, thoroughly mix all spices together until evenly distributed and free of clumps.
- Store Seasoning: Transfer the blended seasoning into a clean, airtight jar or container, labeling with the date. Store in a cool, dark place away from heat and light.
Notes
Toast cumin for enhanced flavor. Adjust cayenne to control heat; omit for milder blends suitable for children. For reduced sodium, use low-sodium salt or add it to individual meals. Store spices in airtight containers in a cool, dark place to maintain potency. This recipe is naturally sugar-free. Consider using fresh ground cumin or organic spices for best flavor.
